Summer begins!

Cole has technically has been out of school for a week now. He didn't have to go to his last week as he was done all his tests already. So his last day was Friday, June 18.

He has been a big help around the house and babysitting when needed. He had his first babysitting job over at his Aunt Niki and Uncle Darren's house babysitting his cousin Lucas who is 18 months old (Cole has only ever babysat for us so far). He was pretty excited to go babysit. I told him to call me as I would be home if he needed help. He never called and he said it went well (Lucas napped most the time). So I was relieved that it all went well ha ha!

Tyson's last day is today (Monday, June 28). He only went to school to pick up the rest of his stuff and to give his teacher her card and gift. Funny thing is is that his teacher wasn't there...she had a sub ha ha!!

And so Summer begins for us...please let it be good, please let the kids behave, please give me the patients I need to survive the summer =)

New addition to the family!

Last Monday (June, 14 2010) Kent and I decided to look at what dogs where on Kijiji in Calgary and surrounding area...and just so we are clear...this was ALL Kent's idea (true story LOL)! We were curious, but were not at all serious about getting a dog as we have had a few (to say the least) and they never work out for us. Mind you we have usually had smaller dogs that I like, that don't shed and they are puppies...whom we never could potty train!

This time we were looking at older dogs, house trained, good with kids, shots up to date, neutered, does well around other animals and mannered dogs that Kent might like (so of course they were larger dogs). Much to our surprise there were actually quite a few. So we sent emails out asking questions that we had...like if they were good with kids etc.

One dog stood out to us right away...a yellow lab (named Buddy) that was 2 1/2 years old. The family that had him was in the middle of a divorce and had to get rid of him A.S.A.P. didn't want any money for him and he came with a kennel, some toys, collar and leash. We contacted the owner and Kent, Brynley and I went and saw the dog. The boys had NO IDEA we were doing this. But we wanted Bryn with us to see how the dog would interact with her.

The dog was VERY friendly! It would sit or lay down if we told him to and would bring his toy back to us after we threw it for him...AMAZING!! It also amazed
us how good he was being with Brynley. She would hold onto his tail and he pretty much was walking her around the living room. She would jump on him, hit him, pinch him etc and he was just putting up with it. We of course we panicking and getting her off of him and getting after her every time she hurt him. But she liked him so much and just wouldn't leave him alone. We told the owner we wanted to talk about it and we would get back to her...plus we had another dog to go see first. Saw the other dog and we knew right away the yellow lab was a perfect match.

We slept on it and talked more about it and decided our whole family would really benefit from having this dog. It would help us be more active and outside m
ore...go on walks etc. In the morning Kent told the boys what we were thinking...the boys were so excited! We wanted the boys to meet Buddy first to see what they thought of him as well...and how Buddy would interact with them too. I wasn't there as I was working, but Kent said it was neat to see them with this dog. The boys were thrilled and really liked him. The owner told Kent we could try him out for a week to see if he would work out for us or not...we thought that was a perfect idea! So the next day we went and got him and brought him home.

Buddy
...

came to our house Thursday, June 17 2010

Cole and Buddy hanging out on our floor in our bedroom at the foot of our bed. Hmmm...do ya think Cole likes him??

We had told the boys we weren't getting him so when they got home from school and walked in the door and there was Buddy they couldn't believe it ha ha!

Brynley and Buddy

Brynley trying to get her rubber boots on so she can go out and play with Buddy.

The first morning when Bryn woke up and saw Buddy she flipped out and started squealing and screaming so she could go outside and be with Buddy. She hadn't eaten breakfast yet, was in her jammies still and needed to be changed.

Bryn trying to kiss Buddy

Once she realized she wasn't going out yet she climbed into her little wagon and sat and starred outside at Buddy.

Time out...
Brynley LOVES Buddy so much that she is SO mean to him. She pinches him, sits on him and bounces, bites him, pulls his tail and ears etc...

Brynley in her TIME OUT spot!

So since she isn't being nice...Bryn has had quite a few time outs since Buddy has been in our home. He is so good and just gives her a nudge with is nose if he has had enough or if she is hurting him. She is so rough and needs to learn to be more gentle!

Her being so mean to him was making us lean towards NOT keeping him as we didn't think it was fair to him. We all really liked him and couldn't ask for a better dog...he truly is thee best dog! BUT, Bryn just doesn't leave him alone and we feel so bad for the poor dog.

On Sunday, June 20 we came home from church and let Buddy in the house to see us. He came in so happy to see us and us happy to see him of course. Brynley giggled as he went right up to her and started licking her. She ran away and he followed her all over nudging her with his nose and playing with her. I don't know who was more happy to see who...we couldn't believe what we were seeing! Seriously I can't even tell you how mean to him she is...but yet here he is loving her and so happy to see her!

Buddy under the trampoline playing with one of his toys.

Bryn says, "owwww" for meow and says it like she is singing it...so cute. Dog is a growling sound.

She loves the show Air Buddies (dog show) and at the end of the show they all howl...well Brynley howls right along with them...sooooo funny! Then the music starts and she dances around my room.

The BIG decision...
We decided to keep Buddy as we just couldn't imagine not having him in our home after seeing him with the kids!

I called his owner Amanda Thursday morning (June 24) to let her know we wanted to keep him. She was thrilled as she really liked us and felt comfortable with us keeping him. She couldn't find any of his info/paper work so she gave me the name of the vet she had been taking him to so I could get all of his info. She also said she would call the S.P.C.A. (where she got Buddy from) right away to get his tattoo info changed to our info. That way if he ever gets lost our info will be what someone can access to call and find us.

After being on the phone with the vet we realized Amanda hadn't been totally honest about a few things. Not a big deal, just don't know why she lied...frustrating! The vet was great and faxed all of Buddies info to the vet here in Crossfield for us.

Then I called the S.P.C.A. in Calgary to try to get some more information on Buddy as that is where Amanda had gotten him from.

I gave them his tattoo number that they had given him in his ear and the lady said, "ohhhh he is so cute...how is Manny?"

I was a little surprised and said, "Manny? His name was Manny? His name is now Buddy at least that is what the previous owner named him."

The lady at the S.P.C.A. said they have a picture of him from when he was 3 months old and asked if I wanted it. I said YES of course and she emailed it to me right away!

She asked me if he has any separation issues or anything like that and I said no he is great. She was surprised, but happy about that.

Baby Buddy...3 months old at the S.P.C.A.

I was so happy she sent me this picture and she then faxed me all of his info that they had for him. I thought that was so nice of her to offer that.

I asked if Amanda had called as she had said she was going to do that as soon as we hung up (that was about 2 hours earlier)..the lady said no that Buddies info hasn't been changed as of yet. I was frustrated as I realized if Amanda didn't call in then the S.P.C.A. wouldn't change his tattoo info and therefore she would be the one that would get the call if he was lost and essentially she could take him back. So I am giving her until today and if she still hasn't done it I will keep calling her...and hopefully she answers!

Having him has made us be outside A LOT m
ore and has brought a lot of happiness to our family. He is a big dog so he is mostly outside. So far so good! The kids are constantly smiling and Kent and I are really enjoying having him too.

I told my Mom that this time around it has been SO different as usually we get puppies and that is A LOT of work with potty training etc...we don't have to go through any potty training, sleepless nights (cause he isn't a baby) or any of those pains of having a baby puppy since Buddy is past all that...it is AWESOME!!!

He knows to sit, come, fetches his toys, so gentle, stay! We can take him to the park and take him off leash to run around and play. When it is time to go we call him and he comes right away. The one thing we do need to work on with him right away is how to walk with us when we take him for a walk on a leash NOT him talking us or a walk ha ha!

We are going to keep his name as Buddy since he knows it so well and Brynley does too...she calls him "Buyie" (Buddy without the d sounds).

Friday happenings...

Scouts trip...
This past Friday (June 25) Kent and Cole went with our Young Men's and Young Woman's groups from our Ward to go white water rafting in Golden B.C.

Kent and Cole heading out!

Kent was asked to bring his trailer to haul everything....they were both very excited to go! I must admit all Friday I had kept getting these horrible thought that something bad was going to happen to them. So I told them to have fun, but to make it back home to me too =) They left around 3:15 p.m. as they had to be in Airdrie to meet the rest of the people going at thte church around 4:00 p.m.

They camped in tents over night in Golden B.C. and then Saturday morning got up and around 9 a.m. went white water rafting. They got home around 6 p.m. on Saturday. Both of them had a GREAT time...neither of them would stop talking about the trip for hours after they had arrived back.

First thing Cole said to me was, "well Mom, we made it back alive!" ha ha

First movie...Toy Story 3!
Well, I decided to be brave (or stupid) and take Brynley to watch her first movie in a movie theatre in Airdrie.

Tyson, Brynley and I went to see Toy Story 3 in Airdrie on Friday, June 25

Brynley was free, so if she didn't sit still for the movie I wasn't too worried about it.

Bryn eyeing up the toy machine beside her LOL!

Bryn was so excited to be there...so much to see! She had to look at everything and touch everything. The top picture is a big Shrek sign and she LOVES Shrek so she squealed when she saw this sign.

In the beginning...

At first she sat right down on her booster seat and was eating her popcorn and treats...she had thee biggest grin! She kept pointing at the screen and giggling. Tyson thought it was pretty cool she was there with him.

When the movie started it was pretty loud and when there were scary scenes she didn't like it as it was really loud and scary. She lasted about half way through the movie and then...

The end...

she got up and started dancing in the isle beside us as there was music playing. The kids behind us were giggling and laughing at her as she was given'er dancing all around. She kept running around and going out into the lobby. So I stayed out there with her for the rest of the show and she played around. There were some other parents and kids out there so she was having fun playing with them.

Glad we tried it...now we know...still too little!

Tyson said the movie was good. And he enjoyed eating the rest of the treats by himself ha ha! It was fun going out with the 2 of them.

random things...

Our handsome boy is back!
We have struggled with Cole about his hair for almost a year now. He wanted it longer than we usually let him have it and we wanted it kept shorter like we have always had it. But, in the end we let him figure things out and a few days ago he asked to have his hair cut back to how he used to have it (short) as he liked it better that way LOL...we were SOOOOOO shocked...but SOOOO happy to get it cut and have him looking back to himself again!!

Cole all of a sudden laid on the trampoline and put up his thumb (trying to be silly) and actually it is a really good picture of him!

Trying to get Cole to cooperate to take pictures of him with his new do was very painful...let me tell you! He doesn't like getting his picture taken (like his Mother)! That is why there are never very many pictures of Cole...cause he walks away and never let's me take any of him. Isn't he handsome...he is really happy as well with his new haircut. He says it feels better now =)

Tyson, Tyson, Tyson...

We were on our way to a birthday party when I turned around and saw Tyson sitting like this with Brynley's Elmo and watching a movie in the van. I had to laugh as he was quite comfortable and it was like nothing was going on...poor Elmo is getting chocked to death.

Little Miss...

We bought Brynley this little red car to play in and she quite likes it. It is funny to watch her play in it and get in and out of it. She will lean out the door at me and jibber away at me as I watch her.

Brynley found the boys skate board in the back yard and was having a good time on it..she is so fun to watch. I could just sit for hours and watch her see knew things and trying to figure things out for the first time.

Little Devil...Brynley broke the head off my angel statue that was in my flower bed. She just can't leave things alone...she is always kissing and petting everything. So when she kissed the angel it tipped over and the head broke off. Brynley was quite upset to see the angel broken...so was I!!! It is not fixable as she dropped it so many times showing me what she had done!?*&

Brynley caught red handed...saying, "oh no!"

She loved this statue and I constantly would get after her as she would play with it and I knew at some point it was going to get broken *sigh*

Watching T.V.

Brynley was laying in our bed (like usual) and watching T.V. I thought it was SO cute how she had her arms behind her head like that.

Kent does the same thing when he watches T.V.

Brynley and Kent watching T.V. one morning with their arms behind their heads...too funny! Brynley likes to snuggle right in with her Daddy when watching T.V.

Some funny things Bryn does...

Usually when Brynley is running around she doesn't run...she gallops..it is so funny! And I might add that she can gallop very fast ha ha!

Everything is "ewwww" or "oh no" in her little world. She also will put her finger to her lips and pat her lips with her finger and say, "hmmmm"...she is the funnest little thing!

Crossfield potluck

We go to church in Airdrie and we are apart of the Airdrie 1st Ward...but there are about 16 families that live out in Crossfield that go to that ward...and we really don't know many of them I am sad to say. So anyways, I guess years ago all the Crossfield members used to get together twice a year and do there own thing so they could get to know each other better.

We got a phone call a few weeks ago that they were going to start doing it again (weather permitting)...they wanted to do a pot luck 20 minutes west of Crossfield at a little campground in Bottrell.

Monday, June 21 2010

We were really looking forward to the potluck as it sounded like fun and plus we were looking forward to sitting with people and visiting and FINALLY getting to know them. We stopped at Niki's place in town so her and Lucas could follow us out there. When we got to the campground site we were pleasantly surprised as it was a beautiful location. There was a play ground and a creek, for the kids to play in (didn't know these things would be there so next time we will be better prepared with towels and what not). Lot's of space and the spot we were meeting at was right beside the creek and play ground so it was perfect!

Tyson playing with Bryn and Lucas at the play ground. We spent A LOT of time there!

Kent visiting with someone from the ward.

Not many people had arrived yet when I took these photos. And then I got so busy watching Bryn that I forgot to take more once everyone was there. There was a good turn out. I made Don't Peek Chicken and it was a huge hit!
All the food there was wonderful.

A little girl from our ward (don't even know her name) went running over to Bryn (Bryn doesn't know her either). Bryn looked up at her and grabbed her hand and took her with her over to the horses.

Brynley saw these horses in the field by us and kept walking over there. To get to the horses you have to cross a little road and then there are 2 fences keeping the horses in. Bryn would take off over there and she started climbing through the first fence. I caught her and she was mad...she wanted to pet those horses. I couldn't get them to come to us...but man was she enthralled with them. She is a definite animal lover!

Cole, Tyson and other kids from the ward playing in the creek.

We didn't see much of the boys as they were off having fun in the creek with other kids. The only boy in our ward that lives out in Crossfield that is Cole's age is moving away this weeks. So Cole is bummed about that. But they had a GREAT time they said! I told them next time we will bring towels, sandals, water guns and other toys to play with in the water. They are both looking forward to the next time we all get together with the Crossfield members. I am so glad that they had such a good time. It was neat to see the boys talking with other members as they were eating and getting to know even the adults and vice a versa.

I was a little bummed as I really didn't get to "sit" and visit with anyone as I was running after Bryn the whole time. I was so worried about the creek as it had a steep bank on it and she wanted in it so badly...and there was no way I was going in...as I wasn't prepared to go in the water since we didn't know it was going to be there...next time for sure! Next time I plan on letting Kent run after her so I can visit ha ha...I figure it is a good trade off.

The next get together is planned for this September...and we are looking forward to it!!

Inside us all...

Two Wolves...

One evening an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "my son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all."

One is evil. - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.

The other is good. - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee Indian simply replied, "which ever one you feed!"

How amazing is this analogy of the battle of good and evil inside us all? A friend emailed it to me and after I read it I just sat there thinking, "ya that is exactly it!"

Life is truly what we choose to make it.

Thanks for the email Erica...I needed it =)

Crossfield fun!

We have been seeing A LOT of movies lately it seems...but I am NOT complaining as long as I have my pop and popcorn!! On Friday we decided to meet up with Sheri and her 2 boys and go see the movie Marmaduke in Olds.

It was a good middle ground for meeting up with her there since they live in Innisfail...plus movies are WAY cheaper in small towns than in Calgary. We got a babysitter for Bryn. It was a cute show...glad we only paid $7 for adults and $3 for the kids! It had the kids laughing out loud and enjoying themselves.
Actually Sheri and the boys had come to Crossfield earlier in the day so we all went in out truck to Olds for the movie as the 4 boys convinced Sheri to stay over night at our place Friday night. On the way home to boys were happy, wired and L-O-U-D!!! We told them over and over to quiet down and they just wouldn't listen. We were almost back to Crossfield when Kent pulled the truck over and made the 4 boys get out and he drove away...I was SO shocked! The boys were laughing and running after the truck. Kent wanted them to get some of there energy out and it worked. Once they caught up to us (we drove a ways up the road and stopped) they were out of breath and tired.

The boys were begging to go over to there Uncle Darren's to go play video games with him. Darren had been playing with them earlier in the day. When we pulled into Crossfield we saw Darren driving by so Kent followed him...Darren pulled up to the post office to get his mail. We pulled up right beside him and Kent told him the boys were coming over to spend the night and play games. Poor Darren said, "sure"...I felt bad for him as I don't think he knew what to think about the whole thing.

Darren went in to get his mail and Kent told the boys to quickly get out of the truck and get into Darren's van while he wasn't there...so they did. As the boys were piling out of the truck and into Darren's van Darren happened to look out the window inside the post office and saw what was going on. We were laughing...Darren was not! LOL Kent pulled away and that was that. Sheri called over to Darren's once we figured they were home to make sure it was all ok...and it was. The 4 boys stayed the night and had a GREAT time.

Pete Knight Days in Crossfield
This past weekend was the rodeo days in Crossfield so then we had our town parade Saturday morning. At 9 a.m. Kent, Sheri and I went and set up chairs along side the road where we wanted to sit.
We weren't sure what time the parade started (we assumed 10 a.m.) but man were we wrong...it started at 11 a.m.! So we sat there for an hour waiting...the kids were not happy about that. Mind you there was a park right behind where we were sitting so that helped. We will definitely have to sit in that spot every year.

Tyson, Brynley and his buddy Gavin and his sister Camryn.

Jeff and Avery...Kent and Bryn waiting for the parade to start.

Clown...

A clown came walking down the sidewalk before the parade started...some kids liked him and didn't mind him...others not so much!

In the top left picture you can see Bryn standing on the sidewalk a ways away from the clown watching him...not sure of him! When the clown walked towards her she ran away LOL. When the clown left Melanie (my sister in law) was laughing and pointed behind us as her daughter Kori was hiding behind a tree waiting for the clown to leave (bottom right picture).

After and hour of waiting...the parade FINALLY started!

Much to our surprise Melanie was saying this was the first parade her kids had ever been to...couldn't believe it! Jade had a million questions as to why we clap and yell "woo hoo!" She just didn't understand it all...that was until the parade started...then they got right into it and had a good time!

The kids all got lot's of candy...and there was LOT'S being thrown at them, so that was great! They got sprayed with water guns...so we told the kids next year they could bring water guns to spray them back...they are excited for that!

This was Brynley's first parade as well. She was clapping away and waving...she had a great time!

Paint Ball...

Right after the parade Kent and Darren took the 4 boys and were gone for the day paint balling near Balzac. Our ward YM's and Elder's Quorum were doing it. They had a BBQ as well. This was Tyson's first time paint balling and he had a blast! They came home VERY dirty...but had lot's of great war wounds and stories to tell.

Sheri and I were shopping all day trying to get things done for Father's Day! Brynley decided to nap in the vehicle for 1 1/2 hours so Sheri and I just hung out and visited until she woke up. All in all it was a good day!

Happy Father's Day!

Kent and Brynley were both too sick to go to church so they stayed home and the boys and I went without them. They both have sinus colds!

Kent and the kids

Brynley being her usually ohhhhh soooo helpful self up on the table. The cards we gave Kent were musical so she was up there opening and shutting them and dancing to the music.Kent opening his cards and gifts. I gave him a gift certificate for a 30 minute massage. He has never had one and has always wanted one. The kids gave him there gifts they made at school and at church and then they gave him a bag of his favorite treat...bite size Big Turks!

Kent requested a Cherry Cheesecake so that is what he got. It is the no-bake kind...so good!

Kent and the boys enjoying the cheese cake. Brynley didn't like the cheese cake so she had ice cream instead.

First Father's Day...
This was Kent's first Father's Day without his Dad. I was worried how hard it would be for him...he did pretty good considering. We had a few good talks through out the day Sunday as Kent would reminisce about Russ.

It is hard to believe it has already been 1 year since we had these family pictures done for Father's Day last year.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to ALL you wonderful Father's!!!

It is done and it looks so nice...

Russ's Headstone
Russ's headstone is now finished and in place. It looks great! Kent, Brynley and I (the boys were in school) drove down to Cardston Friday morning quickly so we could go see it and take pictures for Kent's Mom so she could see it as well, as she is in Ontario.

It stands out so nicely and you can see it right away when you first drive in there. The family wanted the tractor put on there as that was one of Russ's loves...and underneath it they put "Nip, Nip, Nip"...it is part of a joke Russ used to tell. They wanted something that would make them smile and laugh when they went to visit the graveside. So we were teasing Deb about what is going to go on her side when she passes away...I came up with a computer for the picture (as she is SO into technology) and underneath it saying "Motherboard"....Deb laughed and I think she liked it! Who knows if that is what will actually be put on there...but it was funny!

The wheat on the sides signifies Russ being a Farmer. The two interlocking wedding rings has Russ and Deb's marriage date on them as well. There are flower holders on the sides of it as well.

The back of the headstone

Brynley waving at Papa

I was standing beside Russ's headstone when Brynley walked over to me and I said, "Brynley this is Papa's" she looked at it and smiled and waved...so cute!

When I turned around I had to smile to see the Ford truck (which used to be Russ's years ago) next to Russ's graveside. He was a dedicated Ford man!

There was a child's grave across the road from Russ's that has a little lamb on top of the headstone. Brynley kept walking over to it and kissing it and petting it...it was THEE sweetest thing!! All we could hear was her loud kissing sound "mmmwwhhaaa" every time she kissed it.

As we walked around the cemetery she found many more statues that she had to go over and touch and kiss and wave too...love her!

Walking around...
My Mom came out to the cemetery with us. We walked around looking at other people's headstones that we knew.

Grandma Gayla and Brynley going for a walk!

As I was looking around the cemetery I looked up the road and this is what I saw...my Mom and Brynley walking together. LOVE IT!!!

Vandalism at the cemetary by a 20 month old!

Brynley kept grabbing at the flowers that were placed at the graves and pulling them out and saying "peyie" which means pretty. I laughed and told my Mom Brynley was out of control as she was vandalising the gravesides by doing this LOL! She would smell the flowers and wave them around like a wand (most of them were fake).

It was a long day, but it was well worth going down for. I am glad we did it as Kent really wanted to see it! We called Deb to let her know it was there and that we took pictures. I emailed the pictures to everyone as soon as we got home.

Weekend of HARD work!

60th Anniversary!

Kent's Mom's side of the family were all in Ontario celebrating his Nanny and Papa's 60th Anniversary on Saturday! They were all together having a big celebration so Sheri called for all of us here in Alberta to say we loved them and we were thinking of them. We SO wish we could have been there celebrating with them all.

HAPPY 60th ANNIVERSARY Nanny and Papa!!

Friday, June 11 2010...new roof!
We have been fighting with our insurance company since last August when our house got hit hard with hail. It damaged our roof and they of course didn't agree. It has been 10 months since the storm and they didn't give us much, but something is better than nothing...right?!

Kent up on our roof Friday afternoon trying to get a head start on it before all the guys show up. It is going to be A LOT of work...BUT it needs done badly! In the pictures you can see on the side of the house on the ground there was A LOT of garbage!! This accumulated all around the house throughout the weekend...my poor plants got squished.

As you can see our house is 2 colors...nice eh! The darker color is the one we are going to be painting the whole outside of the house. Kent painted the whole side last year to show me what it would look like LOL...and it has stayed that way ever since. Sooooo, our hope (or should I say MY hope) is that it will finally get painted at some point this summer =)

Cole and Tyson were up there helping as much as they could...Cole helped, Tyson was dancing to the music on the roof more than anything ha! Daryl (Kent's cousin from Carstairs) and his brother Jeff were the first ones to show up to help Friday afternoon.

So, I went outside to look up on the roof to see how the guys are doing....and this is what I see...Cole looking like...well, for a lack of better words a hill billie LOL! Cole had ripped his sleeves off his shirt and so now it looks like a "muscle shirt" so to speak...but a horrible one.

Cole was laughing as he knew what I was thinking...he thought it was great! I just shook my head and walked away.

By 5pm Friday Kent had all his help there...his cousins Daryl, Derek and Dean, his brothers Jeff, Mike and Gary and brother in law Darren...and of course Cole and Tyson. We were SO thankful for all the help! I BBQ hamburgers and hotdogs for supper for everyone. They worked until about 10 p.m. that night. They got WAY more done than Kent thought they would so he was so pleased that they got such a good start on it all. Our neighbor to the back of us (whom we have never met) saw Kent on our roof and asked him if he would like to borrow one of his roof nailers...Kent was so shocked, but was grateful as they needed another one for sure. And it was put to good use!

Saturday, June 12 2010
Kent was up by 6:30 a.m. and in Airdrie picking up some supplies that they needed for the day.

Everyone slowly started filtering in throughout the morning. Saturday was actually Jeff's 30th Birthday so we appreciate him doing this for us on his big day.

Sheri (Kent's sister) was brave and actually got up on our roof. It took her a couple of tries (and people helping her) but she did it! I asked her once she got up there how she was going to get down and she laughed and said she wasn't sure LOL! She was up there the whole time working and helping out. Her and her 2 boys Taylor (10 years old) and Josh (9 years old) came and helped all day Saturday as well.

Brynley had a good time playing and dancing on the plywood that was on the ground. She kept trying to climb up the ladder as she wanted to be with everyone on the roof.

Almost done...

This is all of our hard workers on the last peak of the roof. Everyone was SO hot and tired! Our neighbors to the North of us brought over popsicles for everyone...so nice!

The 4 boys little boys (which I guess aren't so "little" anymore) were happy to be up there and helping...that is until they got yelled at every now and again. It is nice that they are all at an age where they can be good helpers....and they really were a BIG help!

The front view of our house and all the mess!

Much to our shock, they were ALL done the roof by 5 p.m. Saturday. It looks great! The weather cooperated finally, so therefore everyone was exhausted sore had sun burns. It was a long couple of days of hard work...and we are SO incrediably grateful for ALL the help!

Brynley's "trampoline hair"...

She is a beauty!

This is what happens to Bryn's hair when she plays on the trampoline...major static! I took this picture and then showed her as she wanted to see it...she looked at it and furrowed her brows and said, "Ewwww!" LOL Brynley was having fun on the trampoline with me while Kent and his cousin Daryl were on our roof Friday afternoon starting to reshingle it.

Brynley can do a new "trick"...she can swing from the bar of the trampoline ha ha! She is quite pleased with herself and giggles as she does it. She also thinks it is pretty cool that she can run right under the trampoline...she is at a perfect height where she can do that. One of these days she will all of a sudden be too tall and smoke her head on the bar!

Brynley kept looking up on the roof as the kids would yell to her and wave throughout the day Satuday...

I love this picture I captured of her looking up at them!

Afterwards we went over to Jeff and Melanie's to celebrate Jeff's 30th Birthday. Everyone had brought appetizer's and drinks, so there was lot's of good food. The guys all planned on watching U.F.C. (Ultimate Fighting Championship) together. Us girls hung out downstairs and visited while all the kids played outside.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE FOR ALL THE HELP!!
